Sensory Careers Fair: Golden opportunity for pupils

Liverpool City Region Careers Hub, Cobalt Housing and Redbridge High School hosted a sensory-based careers fair for Redbridge’s pupils.

To highlight the opportunities available, local stakeholders were invited to the school from North Liverpool to support the event along with Cobalt

Plus – Cobalt Housing’s in-house maintenance team.

They were invited by Kayleigh Clarke, the Career Hub’s enterprise adviser for the school and project officer at Cobalt Housing.

The Cobalt Plus team gave pupils an insight into the construction and planned maintenance world.

Myerscough College, based in Croxteth Park, attended to inform pupils about its further education provision.

Greenbank College engaged the young people with a picture-based activity to help pupils understand opportunities available to them.

Local business, Ella Bellas Pamper Parlour, spoke to pupils about its party planning business.

Together Were Stronger CIC, creative wellbeing practitioner, A Ur Tistic, and charity Daisy Inclusive UK, also spoke to pupils.

Education provided a range of sensory based activities that really helped to engage and relax the students.

Assistant headteacher of Redbridge High School, Mrs Calder, said: “It is so important that the pupils gain an understanding of the world of work and this event was successful in giving a fun and practical insight into the many different jobs that are available.”

Julie Jones, enterprise coordinator at the Liverpool City Careers Hub said: “The event was a huge success with students taking away a great deal of confidence, knowledge and inspiration about the opportunities available to them.”
