Transforming teaching and learning with SENDSCOPE

Alternative provision SENDSCOPE is transforming teaching and learning in its setting by providing all students and staff with media pads.

SENDSCOPE is committed to a digitally rich environment which removes barriers to learning and provides equitable access for all.

All students are provided with an induction to see the powerful effect that technology can have within their learning and how they can use their media pads to enhance and personalise digital skills for their education and for their future.

Student Paul said: “I’m more confident with my reading and writing now I’ve got a media pad. I put ColorVeil over all my work and I use my headphones to listen to any tricky words.”

Another student, Lewis, added: “I use my media pad to make quick notes in class that I can save and look back over when completing tasks.”

Likewise, staff are also provided with media pads and training around digital skills and using technology effectively in the classroom.

Miss Williams, SENDSCOPE learning support assistant, said: “The media pads have been a welcomed addition to our learning environment, students are much more confident with tasks, and they are engaged in their learning journey.

“CPD [Continuing Professional Devlopment] opportunities for staff has also highlighted a wide range of apps we can use to support students in class.”

This term, SENDSCOPE will launch its ‘Digital Ambassadors’, empowering students to become digital leaders and support their peers with their digital learning.
