Pupils walk to Kyiv to raise money for Ukraine

As a school community St John Bosco Arts College have been really moved by the images we have seen recently coming from Ukraine.

During Lent the school always focus on raising money for local charities and using this time of reflection and preparation to think of others. With this in mind they made the decision that as a whole school community they could walk the distance to Kyiv raising money as they walked. The total distance was 2882km.

Students and staff had a wonderful time walking, students used their PE lessons to walk and their PE team gave the students a route around the school grounds so they could clock up the kilometers throughout the day. The staff were also doing their bit around school and after school. The school reached Kyiv in no time at all much quicker than all expected, showing just what you can do when everyone works together.

The sponsorship is still rolling in and so far they have raised more than £800!

All of the money raised will be donated to the CAFOD Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal and will go directly to those that have been affected by the war.
