St Mary’s appoint new headteacher

St Mary’s Catholic College in Wallasey has appointed a new headteacher.

Mr Kevin Maddocks joined St Mary’s, which is part of Holy Family Catholic Multi Academy Trust, towards the end of last term. He was previously headteacher at The Academy of St Francis of Assisi in Liverpool.

Mr Maddocks said: “I am thrilled to join St Mary’s Catholic College at this exciting time. Starting in November gave me the opportunity to see the college in full flow and it has been wonderful to meet the students and work with all the dedicated staff.”

Since starting, Mr Maddocks has reached out to parents and carers to gather their feedback through Parent Voice. Much of the feedback that was received has already been actioned. This includes reviewing the college’s homework policy, improving communication between parents and carers, and implementing a raising attainment plan for Year 11 and 13 students.

Mr Maddocks added: “The overall mission for St Mary’s is to deliver an outstanding Catholic education for students and I am looking forward to working towards this goal with a great team around me.”

Andy Moor, CEO of Holy Family Catholic Multi Academy Trust, said: “It is with much delight that we welcome Mr Maddocks into the trust. His incredible experience and knowledge of faith schools is just what the college, and the trust, needs as we continue our journey of improvement.”

Mr Maddocks has previously held senior positions at St Francis Xavier’s College, Hope Academy and North Liverpool Academy.
