Everyone succeeds at Rainford High

Rainford High is continuing to strengthen its team of over 150 staff with two new appointments.

Demi McIntosh has been promoted to whole school lead for personal development. Demi completed her teaching training at the school and became a teacher of RE in 2020, having previously worked with the Brooke Advisory Service. She begins the new role this term.

The position will see Demi supporting students with their personal development throughout their seven-year journey at Rainford High. This role is key in developing young people for their journey through life covering issues such as the role of democracy, British values, as well as considering issues of diversity and inclusion alongside the challenging topics relationships and sex education.

Demi brings a passion and enthusiasm to her new role that will see the students at Rainford High benefit from an exciting, thought provoking and life enhancing personal development curriculum.

Olivia Byrne, who was a student at Rainford High and finished her GCSEs last summer, has been welcomed back with open arms as she starts a Level 3 business administration apprenticeship at the school.

Olivia’s role will be varied throughout her apprenticeship, and she will gain valuable experience in a support role across the school. She will be working on the reception as well as fulfilling office administration duties.

Principal of Rainford High, Ian Young, said: “It is with great delight that we can promote from within the school for the new whole school personal development lead. Demi will offer much needed guidance to students during their time here as we help prepare them for the future.

“We are also very fortunate to be able to offer a former student an apprenticeship with us. Providing such opportunities sits within our school ethos of ‘Everyone Matters, Everyone Helps, Everyone Succeeds’ as it is of the utmost importance that we support our young people. Olivia will provide vital assistance to the admin team, and it is great to have her back in school.”
