The children at St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School never cease to amaze staff with their talent, tenacity and school spirit. A far cry from the rugby pitch or from the chess rooms, students demonstrated yet again, the beauty of diversity, and the power of believing in being the best person you can be. The audience were ‘wowed’ by the singing, dancing and all-round fabulous performance from a relatively small cast, who had never before graced the St Cuthbert’s stage. Miss Anderson, assistant headteacher and teacher of expressive arts, gave a formidable performance as Miss Trunchbull, sending shivers down everyone’s spines by her very presence! Student Laura played a wonderful Matilda, and Ruby C’s interpretation of Bruce Bogtrotter was loaded with humour and charm. However, it was the team effort by all cast and crew that really created a performance to remember by all for many years to come. Miss Dixon, curriculum lead for expressive arts at St Cuthbert’s, expressed “huge thanks to everyone who was involved with the show, especially the children, who were simply amazing.” Headteacher of St Cuthbert’s, Mrs Twist, said: “We are such a gifted and talented school community. It has been an absolute joy to watch our children shine in this way.” As the new term starts, so do the preparations for its next school production. Auditions are already underway for The Lion King Jr. School staff are already looking forward to another super showcase of St Cuthbert’s talent!
