Rainford High has made two internal promotions for the new academic year. Miss Summer Smith, teacher of PE (physical education), has been appointed as learning leader for Year 9. Alongside her teaching, Summer will play a crucial role in overseeing the pastoral care of students, with her responsibilities revolving around the wellbeing, academic progress, and overall development of students in Year 9. Summer has been at Rainford High since 2020. She has an impeccable footballing CV, having previously played for Liverpool Ladies and Everton Ladies.. Summer said: “I am honoured and excited to take on the role of learning leader. I am committed to creating a supportive and enriching environment for our students, where they can thrive academically and personally. Together with our incredible staff, I am eager to make this academic year a memorable and transformative one for our Year 9 students.” Teacher of RE (religious education), Mr Jordan Penfold has been promoted to head of RE. As head of the department, he will ensure the continued delivery of excellent religious education to students in both Rainford High and Rainford High Sixth Form. He commented: “I am thrilled to have been made of head of RE. I am so passionate about the subject and by becoming head of department, I can instil this love of learning amongst our students.” Mr Ian Young, principal of Rainford High, added: “Congratulations to Summer and Jordan on their new positions in school. Their dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to our students have not only enriched our learning community but have also set a remarkable example for all. These promotions demonstrate our school’s belief in nurturing talent from within and fostering a culture of growth and excellence where Everyone Matters, Everyone Helps, Everyone Succeeds.”
