WORLD BOOK DAY

Schools celebrate in spectacular style

Schools, colleges and nurseries around the region celebrated World Book Day this year in spectacular style.

Pupils and staff had fun dressing up as their favourite characters from their favourite books.

World Book Day was created by UNESCO in April 1995 as a worldwide celebration of books and reading. It is marked in over 100 countries around the globe.

World Book Day founder, Baroness Gail Rebuck said: “Spending just 10 minutes a day reading and sharing stories with children can make a crucial difference to their future success and it’s fun for all involved.

“That’s why World Book Day continues to encourage children and young people to read for pleasure through its work with authors, illustrators, publishers, bookshops and libraries.”
