Academy of Teacher Education celebrates successful year

The Lydiate Learning Trust Academy of Teacher Education opened a year ago and has become well established in the region.

The teacher training and development centre, located in Vortex House, Liverpool, is also home to the Associated Merseyside Partnership School Centred Initial Teacher Training.

Lydiate Learning Trust, in partnership with many other organisations, co-ordinates and delivers accredited professional development for teachers of all levels.

The teacher educator team deliver programmes for Rainbow Teaching School Hub and Best Practice Network. They host Early Career Framework training for mentors and new teachers plus deliver a range of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs). The team also run Tomorrow’s Teachers programmes for sixth form students and STEM internships for undergraduates to promote teaching careers.

The Academy hosts subject network events for teachers and specialists to support the development of knowledge and understanding of the latest research within specific subject areas and to support the development of evidenced based best practice.

Mrs Stahler, Lydiate Learning Trust CEO and executive headteacher, said: “We are delighted that our Academy of Teacher Education has had a successful 12 months in Vortex House. The training activities and programmes are particularly pertinent at this time of profound change, helping teachers to support their pupils and deliver the recovery curriculum.

“Since the launch, we have engaged with over 500 trainees and existing teachers and look forward to welcoming even more colleagues next year.”

The Academy of Teacher Education is now available for hire for day and evening education-related training events and meetings. Facilities include two large learning rooms for up to 96 people, three smaller meeting rooms for up to 24 people and a large open plan hospitality area.
